SIILC promotes the independence of persons with significant disabilities by promoting self-help and self-advocacy through including consumer participation and education in advocacy efforts. SIILC members strive to maintain an active role in Home and Community-Based Services. The Center also promotes the increase in the availability and quality improvement of community-based programs that serve individuals with disabilities and promote the removal of any existing architectural, attitudinal, communication, environmental, or other types of barriers that prevent the full integration of disabled individuals into society.
